Three common types of sensory panels

Infographic summarizing the key features of descriptive, discrimination, and consumer panels in sensory research.

I often talk with non-sensory scientists who want to understand the different types of sensory panels commonly used in sensory testing. To help explain, I created an infographic covering 3 of the common panels that sensory scientists use to collect sound & actionable data.

The information in this infographic covers some of the most common features and uses of these types of panels, but - of course - there are many other methods, variations, and features I didn’t cover here (for example - the wonderful world of drivers of liking - linking descriptive panel and consumer panel data together)! Please let me know if you’d like to see summaries like this of other methods or panel types and reach out if you would like more information on any of these panel types.
